The first racing day of the 50th ČEZ Jizerská 50 was full of interesting events. The schedule started with the children's race, followed with Volkswagen Bedřichovská 30 and Nyč sport sprint. Program concluded with the official opening ceremony.
Morning's children's race was full of emotions. Parents kept cheering for their kids and all the youngsters enjoyed their race. It was the first cross-country skiing experience for some of them!
Racing turned more serious at 13:00 when the Volkswagen Bedřichovská 30 started. Czech national biathlon B-team competed in the race and did very well! Ondřej Hošek won the men category in front of German Toni Escher and junior European champion Markéta Davidová finished second behind last year's winner Klára Moravcová.
In the evening Nyč sport sprint, Stanislav Řezáč proved that he is not just the long distance race specialist. After finishing third in the qualification he started well in the finals and secured gold. Swedish Britta Norgren won the women category of Nyč sport sprint.
Friday concluded with the opening ceremony and fireworks. We are all looking forward to see you in Bedřichov on Saturday as well!
