Jiří Ročárek Triumphed for the Fifth Time in O2 Bedřichovská 30
January 6, 2012
The weekend of the 45th Jizerská 50 ČSOB Pojišťovny started in Bedřichov according to the usual scenario: Jiří Ročárek won the free-style 30 kilometre race, O2 Bedřichovská 30, for the fifth time. Jitka Pešinová was the fastest one among women, just as she was last year. There were 561 racers from 16 countries participating in the O2 Bedřichovská 30 race.
“This was the most difficult Bedřichovská 30 of all time for me because there was very tough competition here. Up until Hřebínek, we were skiing in a group and then Jakub Graf and I tried to break off from the group. I thought there would be sprinting in the finishing straight but Jakub fell down two kilometres before the finishing line and he was unable to catch up with me again,” said the victor who received a glass trophy from Crystal Bohemia Poděbrady, besides prizes in kind.
“I had difficulties until the twentieth kilometre; it was demanding in terms of technique and one had to be careful not to let the skis sink into the snow. Gradually, it was becoming easier for me and I left Kamila Bořutová behind at Hřebínek,” Jitka Pešinová described the race.
